Phoenix On Red Hemp

This is my large Phoenix lino cut on creamy handmade Hemp paper. This print has been individually printed by me from a hand carved block, using rich red oil based relief ink. This design was inspired by the Japanese folk-lore storied of the Phoenix rising from the ashes, rebirth through fire, and the cycles of life in our own ephemeral nature, which is represented by the magnolias.

This is a limited edition print of just one. It is hand signed and editioned by me, and will be posted rolled using biodegradable and/or recyclable wrapping.

This print may contain some unique imperfections, as is the nature of printmaking. Size is approximately 56x48cm due to the raw hemp edges which I have left on this print. Printed area size is 57x41cm. Colour of photos doesn’t always exactly match the real thing- the paper is more creamy and the red more dark than in the photos.
